Richard
started his writing career in 1986 on that most prestigious of
titles, the Esher News Mail. From there a career in journalism
beckoned. He decide to concentrate on the business arena and joined
Director magazine as its editorial assistant.
After
a stint at University studying English and Writing & Publishing,
Richard returned to the world of work as assistant editor on Real
Business magazine. During the 90s, he found himself becoming
drawn to an emerging medium called the Internet. As such, in 1998
he joined Internet Magazine as senior reporter, rising to
become section editor in three months. Richard
has subsequently written for many publications ranging from the
Sunday Express and FHM to Nursery World and
Caterer & Hotelkeeper. He is also the author of The Internet
Atlas published in 2000 and A History of the internet
is till in the works. All
this non-fiction belies the fact that Richard always wanted to write
fiction. Indeed, he always had. Richard’s first story was something
excruciating called “Destined for the Stars" and was a full-length
SF novel. He was 11. His
commission from Noise Monster to write The Lunar Inheritance
with Andy Frankham was his first professional fiction work and Richard
will remain ever grateful to to Andy for the introduction to producer
John Ainsworth for the contract (!) and immense fun he made it both
during the writing process and in studio. Since
then Richard has had a short story, Neptune, published in
Big Finish’s Doctor Who anthology, Short Trips: Solar System,
and has just been commissioned to write for their Sapphire
and Steel range of audio dramas with something called The Surest
Poison. He also has an agent interested in his novel, The
Dream of Reason, so who knows what may come of that?
Away
from writing, Richard has his own Web Design and Internet Consultancy
firm, Right
Dynamic. So if you’re looking for a well-written Web site…
